Npr.org reported that on August 12th, 2019, a government official whistleblower (a person who informs on a person or organization engaged in an illicit activity) filed a complaint that President Trump had an illegal conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on July 25, 2019.

On December 19, 2019, BBC.com reported the claim made was abusing his power as president stating the following, President Trump is accused of pressuring Ukraine to dig up damaging information on one of his main Democratic challengers for the presidency in 2020, Joe Biden, and his son Hunter. On October 28th, 2019, Npr.org reports that Trump also requested an investigation into a debunked conspiracy theory concerning the 2016 election. Npr.com reported President Trump used 400 million dollars and a meeting with the Ukrainian president as bargaining chips.

On October 28th, 2019 Npr.org and BBC.com reported that an investigation was launched by the house that involved several depositions and open hearings. The House Judiciary Committee proceeded to vote on the recommendation of Impeachment, afterward, the full House voted Impeachment on December 18th, 2019. 

The House voted that same day, voting on the two articles of Impeachment. Article One is the abuse of power. The vote for Article One was 230 for and 197 against. The House also voted on the second article of impeachment, Obstruction of Congress. The vote ended 229 for, and 198 against. Although President Trump has been impeached, he will not be removed from office unless the Senate passes down a guilty judgment in a trial, which began January 21st.
