Wacky Scholarships

Now is the time to start looking for scholarships. Several scholarships are available, all with varying requirements.

The Asparagus Scholarship has ten $2,000 scholarships every year during fall and spring semester. To obtain this scholarship, you must be at least a junior, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and take courses that are relevant to grocery retail industry.

Some scholarships are competition based, with placed winners.The Chick and Sophie Memorial Duck Calling Contest gives $2,000 to the first place winner, $1,000 to second place, $750 to third place, and $500 to fourth place. The competition is only available to seniors, and the competition is in Stuttgart, AR, on November 23, at 11:00 a.m.

Other scholarships provide money based on physical appearance, such as the Tall Clubs International Student Scholarship. The eligibility for this is you must be under 21 years old, you must be entering in your fall semester, and you must be at least 5’10 if you’re a female or 6’2 if you’re a male. Meet all of those requirements and you have $1,000 in scholarship money.
