The Boy’s Golf Team won the 2018 6A Boys Golf State Championship by twenty three shots over Little Rock Catholic. In a two day tournament, Blaine Calhoun won the individual title shooting a 138. Senior Connor Gaunt came in second individually shooting a 141. Caleb Miller finished third in the individual shooting a 142. All three of the boys qualified for the state overall championship next week. Gaunt has won the last two individual state championship titles in the state of Arkansas.

“I’m proud of the whole team,” Gaunt said. “Everyone came out and played the hardest they could. You could tell that everyone wanted to win this title.”

As a Senior, Gaunt has committed to Arkansas Tech University for his college golf career, but he has one thing set on his mind right now. If Gaunt wins this year’s state championship, he will be a three consecutive State Championship winner.

“It would be an honor to be able to win this title three years in a row,” Gaunt said. “All the years I’ve spent on the course would show even more.”

Congratulations to the team for winning the tournament and best of luck to Blaine, Connor, and Caleb in next week’s individual state tournament.
