Balling in the Playoffs

On March 4th, the basketball playoffs began as the Panthers took on Rogers. Rogers, rated as one of the top defensive teams in the state, fought hard against the Panthers. After a back and forth game, Cabot was able to squeak away with a one-point 42-41 victory. The Lady Panthers would follow in their footsteps on March 5th as they would take on Van Buren in the first round of the playoffs. The Lady Panthers would have a 20 plus point lead in the first quarter and look to cruise to victory. However, throughout the second and third quarters, Van Buren would chip away at the Lady Panthers lead. The Lady Panthers were able to hang on in the 4th quarter and secure a 49-38 victory.

The Panthers moved on to take on the Northside Grizzlies in a tough rematch from the last week of the season. The Grizzlies were not pleased after losing to Cabot on a buzzer-beater. Northside played with extra motivation and would dominate the Panthers. The Grizzlies cruised to a 65-36 victory and eliminated the Panthers from the Playoffs. They will be looking to make a deeper run next season, with possibly a brand new starting five.

The Lady Panthers playoff hopes were still alive as they took on Fayetteville on March 6th. Both teams would start off trading baskets back and forth, but Fayetteville would have a 39-19 lead in the third quarter. Although the Lady Panthers fought in the 4th quarter, they could not handle the Fayetteville offensive attack and would lose 53-37.

Even though the Basketball teams are done for the year, Cabot Panther Athletics will continue as Baseball and Softball season begins.
