Masks or Treats
November 5, 2020
Halloween is a holiday known for scary movies and suspicious candy. In 2020, the only scary thing around is Covid.
Due to Covid, certain precautions still needed to be enforced to prevent the virus from spreading. On October 9, the CDC recommended one to have distance between each trick-or-treater, washing hands before leaving, and most importantly wearing a mask. It also recommended not to wear a costume mask over a cloth mask. It warned it could make breathing more difficult.
By making a normal mask, such as one worn to school or work part of a costume, it could help prevent spreading the virus. Another tip from the CDC was to bring hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol while children were out. This would help ensure trick or treaters could still have a good time while out but, in a safer way.
Guidelines for aftercare of trick or treating were also issued. According to an article published by the CDC on October 9, trick or treaters should wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds when they arrive home and before eating any treats.
