On Friday, August 25, 2023, the day was hotter than ever, and so was the football game in Fayetteville with the Cabot Panthers and Fayetteville Bulldogs battling out on the field.
The first quarter of the game started off intense. With Fayetteville having the upper hand having a home game, they ended up receiving two safety points in the beginning of the quarter. Fayetteville ended up drawing first blood with #4 Luke Janski running it in the end zone for a touchdown. Then after that, received an extra field goal point. Instead of getting tackled, #95 Logan Jackson, threw the ball out of bounds to ensure that The Bulldogs didn’t receive a touchdown. This ended up becoming a safety point for Fayetteville and gave them 2 points. Fayetteville was then in the lead 13-0.
Within the first few minutes of the second quarter the Bulldogs were able to get another touchdown. #5 Kaleb Johnson throws the ball to Jaison DeLamar. DeLamer then ran into the end zone reassuring Fayetteville a touchdown. De’Kaleb Rudolph was able to block the Bulldogs so they didn’t receive an extra point. Not too long after, Fayetteville got another touchdown with DeLamar running into the end zone yet again. Maddox McCrory tried to pass the ball, it ended up being fumbled and Omar Murray picked up the ball and ran down the field into the end zone giving Fayetteville another touchdown. The Bulldogs received an extra point. With 21 seconds left on the clock #5 Brett Jay ran a touchdown making this the first the first touchdown for the Panthers. Cabot received the extra point after the play, making the final score for the 2nd quarter, with Fayeteveille still in the lead, 33-7.
In the start of the 3rd quarter, Fayetteville made a field goal. McCrory threw the ball to #23, Carter Bing, who ran down the field, giving the Panthers their second touchdown of the game. The Panthers got an extra point. Once the Panthers received their second touchdown, their confidence boosted. Fayetteville received another touchdown, however. They got an extra point with a field goal. The Bulldogs held their lead with 43-31.
It’s the last quarter of the game and the Panthers received the first touchdown of the quarter, with #23 Gabe Lynch rushing into the end zone. #58 Dean Heyer scored an extra point. This ended up being the only touchdown of the quarter, but it was in good effort of the Panthers fighting till the end. Fayetteville won 43-21.
