According to arlingtonlocalschools.com, Spirit Week not only allows people to express themselves, but it’s also a way to get students to school.
The Cambridge Dictionary describes Homecoming as, “A celebration at school or college, usually including a dance and a football game, when people who were students there at an earlier time can return to visit.”
Some say that CHS Homecoming is for students to make memories, others say that it is for the generational class reunion who attended CHS. Either way, Spirit Week is a way of expressing one’s school spirit.
This year’s Spirit Week consisted of days that were chosen by the students.
Monday was the classic Class Color Day. A day where students chose to wear class colors. This year seniors wore purple, juniors wore blue, and sophomores wore green.
“It’s a classic,” junior Harleigh Thomas said.
Tuesday was Anything but a Backpack Day.
The #Anytingbutabackpack was inspired by a series of events that originated in the Jefferson School District 251 in Idaho.
Junior Callie McCoy, was very creative with her bag for the day.
“I brought a Birthday present,” McCoy said. “I think it’s funny to bring something out of the ordinary”
On Wednesday, students could choose to dress up as Barbie and Ken.
Sophomore Maddox McCrory said, “Im gonna be party barbie, but ken, cause Im a guy”
Thursday, students had the opportunity to dress up as someone from the country or the country club.
Friday was Panther Pride Day, students can wear the Cabot High School colors; red, white, and black.
Following these events was the parade, football game, and the Homecoming dance.
