The junior’s ACT testing is next Tuesday and students are doing their best to prepare.
According to High School Counselor Adam Kohler, every junior had to take ACT preparation lessons throughout the year.
Kohler mentioned that it’s important to learn what the test consists of before you take it.
“It’s one of those things that kids just don’t know what it looks like until they get in there, with either the test or the practice,” Kohler said.
English teacher Connie Treadway states that she has plenty of ways for students to study but only two are used often.
“My classes mainly practice their grammar on NoRedink and IXL for bell ringers and common assignments,” Treadway said.
There are multiple subjects that are covered in the ACT.
“The subjects are, English, Reading, Math, and Science,” Kohler said. “There’s no writing portion.”
Some students may be stressed about the ACT. Junior Jennifer Palmer states that her stress is caused by common test anxiety.
“I stress, but only because there is so much preparation,” Palmer said. “It makes me worry about getting things correct or not.”
While some students are stressed about the test, others like junior Emma Bunton are more relaxed.
“I just know that I can retake it as many times as I can pay for it,” Bunton said.
