On April 27, juniors and seniors chose to attend the last dance of the year, Prom. The theme was “Bright Lights, Big City”. Foods from Chick-fil-A, Mcdonald’s, and Domino’s were served to those who attended.
Prom lasted until midnight and the After-Party began right after the dance ending at 2 am.
Math teacher Melissa Armstrong explained that the planning the prom theme took most of the year.
“This year, students voted and chose the theme of New York, New York,” Armstrong said. “After brainstorming ideas for decor and colors, they really wanted something classy and elegant, with lots of lights. So we came up with ‘Bright Lights, Big City’.”
An After-Party was held in the school’s fieldhouse. Students who chose to attend safely enjoyed the night beyond the dance. Science teacher Kim Ursery helped coordinate the late-night event.
“If this event saves one life or prevents students from drinking and driving or attending a party and prevents something terrible happening that night, then it is worth all of the time spent organizing it,” Usery said.
Students were able to be a part of a mass giveaway and were able to receive some items.
“Just some things that will be in the raffle is a TV, a microwave, a mini fridge, electronics, some Big Joe Chairs, and a bunch of other items,” Usery said.
