The Junior High North and South rivalry has been going strong for years now. Every year, the 9th grade North and South volleyball teams go head-to-head to determine who will take the belt, a trophy, home for bragging rights. This year, South beat out North, winning both sets.
Even though South won, North still played their hardest and were able to make crucial plays. Head North Volleyball Coach Sarah Turner believed in her athletes until the very end.
“South is a great team and we unfortunately came up short,” Turner said. “Overall, my girls played hard and we are looking forward to making adjustments before we play them again in a few weeks.”
While North put up a good fight, it wasn’t enough to defeat South. Head South Volleyball Coach Mollie Johnson knew her girls could do it, and she didn’t doubt them for one second.
“Overall I was very pleased! We did a good job keeping our serves in and moving the ball around offensively so that North’s defense didn’t know where it was going,” Johnson said. “We had so much energy the entire game, which always helps as well.”
