For Americans, election week means more than just a vote. It’s more than just a measly decision to make. Election week is when all Americans of different backgrounds, races, and economics come together to vote for who they deem the best candidate to get the title of president.
This year, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump went head-to-head online, in debates, and in the polls. On November 6th, Donald Trump was called the winner of the Presidential race, making him the 46th President of the United States.
This week, students were asked what they would do if they were President of the United States. Senior Serrano Jackson would take advantage of some of the great presidents before him.
Jackson said, “I would take some of the best qualities of Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Reagan and try to use them as my biggest influences.”
For others, the American lifestyle means more than policies that could be enacted. Junior Emmalee Hilbert believes that the American people deserve to live freely with the best life possible.
“I would consider the best way for all Americans in our country to have the best life I could give them,” Hilbert said. “I would try my hardest to improve the country and make it a great atmosphere for all people.”
