On October 29, the CHS Medical Academy welcomed a guest speaker, Chris Purchase. Purchase, a Certified Physician’s Assistant from Camp Robinson, currently holds the title of Troop Medical Clinic Administrative Officer.
This event was organized by Bailey Collins, the Medical Academy teacher who invited the guest speaker. Purchase gave lectures every period throughout the day. These lectures were held in the Media Center open to a number of chosen Medical Academy Classes.
The goal of the speaker was to educate the attending students on the details of the day-to-day life of being a physician assistant.
“Purchased explained the education needed, what schools are available in Arkansas, and job satisfaction rates,“ Collins said. “He also spoke to our students about the benefits and challenges of his job.”
Real experience is necessary when choosing a job. Purchase gave a detailed presentation of his job based on his experience, helping many Medical Academy students choose what future job they want by explaining the challenges and upsides of being a physician’s assistant.
“The guest speaker helped me a lot with deciding what career path would best fit me,” Kadence Clark said. “He described how they all work and how competitive and complicated each of the different areas in the medical field is.”
