Starting November 25, students took a break from the everyday learning to partake in a long-celebrated tradition, Thanksgiving. Instead of doing classwork or being in a lesson, students enjoyed the day relaxing at home with family and sleeping in. CHS students had the 25 through the 29 off of school due to the break, giving students time to enjoy the holiday.
Students at Cabot High School spent this time in a variety of ways. Many students took this opportunity to spend time with family who live far away. One of these students was senior Daniel Black, who visited his uncle.
“I stayed the night at his house, and the next day around 3 o’clock we played some Dungeons and Dragons,“ Black said.
The holidays should be spent with family, friends, and good food, many students agree with this statement. Senior Jaydon Sessions is one of these students.
“My favorite part was when I went to my dads house,” Sessions said. “I love his mac and cheese.”
With the long break lasting, students took the time to go all out on celebrating Thanksgiving, setting up decorations, and cooking, much like junior Tatum Ferrier-Watson.
“Preparing and making the food for Thanksgiving, took up most of my time,” Ferrier-Watson said. “The sweet yams were delicious so it was all worth it.”
Other students like Junior Jessica Vanderburg, devoted little time to the holiday and instead tried to learn new skills with some family.
“My dad taught me how to strip copper wire, so I spent my break doing that,” Vanderburg said.
The break wasn’t exactly a break for Alyssa Murray.
“I didn’t really celebrate the holiday, I mostly just worked,” Murray said
Thanksgiving was one of the many holidays students favored the most. Sophomore Azekial Buttrum loved the classic Thanksgiving tradition of a nice meal.
“I love Thanksgiving, I love how I get to meet with my family and eat a ton of food, and I just love turkey,” Buttrum said.
One of the many things that students claim to do over the thanksgiving break is see out of state family, sophomore Dallas Cox took that chance to see family.
“It’s really nice to see my family that lives in Texas,” Cox said. “They don’t get to visit often so it’s a great way to start the holidays.”
