On December 8, CHS’s Quiz Bowl team attended the Friends of Quiz Bowl event hosted at Southwest Magnet High School. They placed fifth, giving Cabot three wins over two losses.
In the seating rounds, Cabot won against Lake Hamilton High School with 300-260 points, and Marion High School team B with 410-90 points, but lost to Bryant High School team B with 200-320 points.
Cabot won their first round against Russell Field with 250-90 but lost in the second round against Bryant High School team A with 200-305, ending the tournament for Cabot. The team has nine members that was led by Captain Senior Andrew Kinnison.
“I wanted to get in fifth grade but I didn’t make the team, I had a bad time during the auditions,” Kinnison said. “In sixth grade, I actually made it in, and I’ve played ever since.”
When asked about future events, Twyla Kester, the host of the Quiz Bowl team said that the group would most likely be attending a few more events during the school year.
“I think we have 3 more tournaments coming up, we have one in February and another in March,“ Kester said. “And if we do well in the one in March we can attend another one in April.”
