Melinda Asewicz is an English teacher who has taught AP and regular classes for 11 years. She is also on the Board of Education’s Fine Arts Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas. Asewicz loves teaching and treats her students well.
”I love what I do,” Asewicz said. “I have a strong sense of responsibility to help others.”
She loved to be in English class when she was in school and even loved teaching it to others.
Asewicz said, “I have always loved English, and I eventually found my way back to it.“
Asewicz considered herself as an outdoors person enjoying hobbies such as hiking and traveling, with the thrill of trying new things.
“I’ve always loved nature because I grew up exploring lakes, hills and all sorts of nature all around me.” Asewicz said.
She hosted the annual trip that takes AP Academy students to a country of their choice, along with other AP teachers. During her teaching career, she has learned that her favorite trip thus far was to London, England.
“I loved London. Its looks and history alone were much like New York City,” Asewicz said.
Asewicz has always been intrigued by human behavior and how similar and different they act.
”I’m fascinated by humans. How we act, move, and treat people similarly no matter the difference in culture or language,” Asewicz said.
She began teaching when she graduated from UCA in 2011. She believes that everyone deserves to learn.
“Everyone deserves the right to learn,” Asewicz said. “I have a sense of responsibility to help students reach new heights and I hope to give that to every student.”
