On February 15, the CHS Quiz Bowl team traveled to Searcy High School to compete in a tournament. Cabot earned second place and a spot at the regional competition. The tournament consisted of 5 rounds with the rankings determined by the total number of points at the end of the games.
Cabot faced many schools and fortunately won every match they entered. Bay High 335-80, Lakeside 330-60, Magnolia 240-150, Ouachita High 325-160, and Palestine Wheatley 205-95. Team Captain Andrew Kinnison was satisfied with his team’s performance.
“I think overall we had some really good games overall even if we didn’t fight any opponents who were too tough,” Kinnison said.
Sponsors Twyla Kester and Sarah Lee couldn’t be prouder of their students. Kester is happy to be working with the students to improve every day.
“Sponsoring this team is incredibly rewarding as it allows me to be a part of a program that supports students in developing critical thinking, teamwork, and a love of learning,” Kester said.
Cabot’s team is now able to attend regionals on the 15 of March. This will be their biggest challenge yet, but Lee is sure the team will succeed.
“They’re heading to Regionals soon with their sights set on State,” Lee said. “The team’s energy and determination make me confident that they’ll rise to the occasion.”
