Spanish teacher Daniella Johns taught a number of Spanish levels while teaching at Cabot High School.
CHS is home to some of the most heartwarming teachers, and many students can attest to that, such as senior Jenifer Palmer. Palmer was a student of Mrs. Johns.
“She genuinely cares for her students,” Palmer said. “Not only is she highly knowledgeable, but her friendly and approachable nature makes her someone students feel comfortable with, creating a positive and welcoming learning environment.”
Growing up in Walnut, Mississippi, Johns dreamt of being in the Coast Guard since she was little. Johns had a strong want to protect and rescue people.
“I wanted to be a rescue swimmer who jumped from helicopters to save people in the ocean,” Johns said. “I never thought I would be a teacher until after graduating from college.”
Other than her wanting to be in the Coast Guard, Johns took pleasure in many outdoor activities as a child.
“There was very little to do in Walnut growing up since the population was around 300 at the time,” Johns said. “My childhood hobbies mostly consisted of playing basketball, riding four-wheelers, and riding horses.”
As an adult, her hobbies didn’t change too much, she still loved to be an outdoors person in her free time.
“My hobbies have changed over time, but I still prefer and enjoy outdoor activities the most,” Johns said.
Later on in her life, she attended college at The University of Central Arkansas, majoring in Spanish and a minor in linguistics. Though it took a long while to accomplish, Johns went to graduate from UCA with her degree in Spanish in 2014.
“I did contemplate dropping Spanish as my major, especially after having to take difficult classes like Spanish Literature,” John said.
After college, she got her first job as a Workforce Management Analyst, but Johns wasn’t made for that life. In 2015, she started her first year at Cabot teaching Spanish to 5th and 8th graders. After teaching for another seven years, she was able to climb ranks and teach at a higher level such as Honors Spanish III and concurrent classes at ASU Beebe.
“I have not taught other subjects other than Spanish, but I have taught multiple grade levels and different levels of Spanish,” Johns said.
Even though she taught for seven years, she worked hard to get her Masters in teaching while she was teaching her classes, she eventually obtained this and graduated in 2021.
