NBA Championship odds left fans distraught. NBA followers left confused and torn between options for the 24-25 Championship rings. ESPN has several articles covering this, specifically NBA playoff Odds: Thunder, Celtics favorites to win NBA Championship.
Senior Lincoln Lopez’s favorite NBA team was the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“I think the Lakers will take the championship,” Lopez said. “They have great team chemistry and great players.”
Senior Ethan Wheeler had been a Golden State fan since childhood.
“I think either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Minnesota Timberwolves will win the Championship,” Wheeler said. “The Cavaliers are young, well-rounded, and experienced so I think they have a good chance.”
Sophomore Bryce Green kept up with the NBA, specifically the Houston Rockets.
“I think the Lakers will win this year,” Green said. “Lebron just brings the Lakers together as a team.”
The article NBA playoff odds: Thunder, Celtics favorites to win NBA Championship by ESPN predicted that the Oklahoma City Thunder was most likely to win the 24-25 NBA Championship.
Senior Masceo Dropkin was less informed when talking about the NBA.
“What Ethan said made sense,” Dropkin said. “I lean towards the Timberwolves winning because they have Anthony Edwards though.”
Junior Kaleb James was a fan of the Chicago Bulls solely because of Michael Jordan.
“I think the Lakers will win the Championship because they got Luka from the Mavericks,” James said. “If the Mavericks didn’t give Luka away they would’ve won though.”
Senior Izaiah Bell was a big fan of Lebron James, so the Lakers were included.
“I think the Oklahoma City Thunder will win because no one can stop Shai,” Bell said. “Shai is really the only reason I think Oklahoma could win.”
Junior Brayden Clarke followed the Memphis Grizzlies because close friends did.
“I think the Celtics will win this year because they did last year,” Clarke said. “The Celtics have Jayson Tatum so they should win.”
ESPN also wrote that the Thunder put the odds more in their favor by winning the first two games in their series against Memphis. The majority of bets were still in Oklahoma’s favor for the Championship.
Assistant Principal Adam Koehler didn’t keep up with the NBA anymore.
“I’d say the Celtics win because Larry Bird used to be on that team,” Koehler said.
Senior Hunter Corbishley didn’t keep up with the NBA either, and didn’t have a favorite team.
“I got the Celtics winning because they have my boy Jayson Tatum,” Corbishley said. “If I had to pick a favorite team, the Celtics would be it.”
Teacher Derrek Goff was even less informed about the NBA than Hunter Corbishley.
“I saw Oklahoma City Thunder whoop somebody yesterday,” Goff said. “If I had to guess, I think they’ll win the Championship.”
No matter how informed someone was about the NBA, everyone had a guess when it came to the Championship. ESPN was right on the mark with who people thought would win the championship, but there’s always outliers. There’s no way to guess who wins the Championship until the rings are handed out.
