Produced by Mojang Studios, The Minecraft Movie was released April 4th. With a 85% Popcorn meter from Rotten Tomatoes, many who saw the movie were pleased.
This movie brought amazing actors such as Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Mylers and more to the screen. There was a lot of potential for this movie. The question is, how did it end up?
From the start of the movie, it felt very rushed in my eyes. There was not one scene where one could take in what actors were saying, or the scenery of any sets. While watching, I felt no worry or care for any of the motives in the movie, every scene that could have something worth expanding on, is rushed and easily forgotten just for Jack Black to show up and say a random minecraft item.
I feel the villain was not developed well. The whole reason for her being evil was, in a society, mining gold was the only important thing. A talent show was introduced and she wanted to show her dance moves. Every person ignored her and was told to go back to getting gold. Why have a talent show, that is meant to show off how people are capable of more than what meets the eye, in a place where gold is the only thing that is important. It just destroyed the whole reason for a villain’s uprising in the first place.
I rate this a 2 on the, ¨Collin’s watchability meter.¨ With the random side plots, rushed scenes and hollow characters, I do not recommend this movie to anyone.
