After the Cabot Panthers’ win last week against the Pulaski Academy Bruins, the Panthers were looking to upset the undefeated powerhouse Bryant Hornets.
The Hornets swarmed and stung Cabot all night, beating them 49-3.
Both teams held each other at a stalemate for the entirety of the first quarter.
The Panthers started the second quarter by scoring the first points of the game. Panther Dean Heyer kicked a 35-yard field goal, putting them on the board with three points. It would be the last time Cabot would score.
The Hornets soon responded by scoring a touchdown of their own. With an extra point, the Hornets were up 7-3.
The Hornets held onto this momentum, scoring another touchdown. A successful PAT put the score at 13-3.
The Hornets continued their scoring ways with another touchdown with only 4 minutes left of play in the second quarter. With a good extra point, the Hornets’ score was updated to 21-3.
The Hornets kept extending their lead. This time, with Hornet TJ Hodges running down the line to score a touchdown. A good extra point put the score at 8-3.
The Hornets were continuously striking fast and hard against the Panthers. The Hornets gained 224 yards in just the second quarter, and ended the quarter with a 35-3.
Hornet Kaleb Tucker started the third quarter with a run into the end zone, scoring the first touchdown of the quarter. With the extra point being good, the score moved to 42-3, and the Mercy Rule was activated, and the clock started to run continuously.
With just two minutes left in the third quarter, the Hornets were able to score another touchdown and an extra point to move their score up to 49.
Both teams held each other at a stalemate for the fourth quarter. The end score was 49-3.
Cabot (2-6 overall) is set to face off against the Little Rock Central Tigers on Friday.
