Coding Club
October 4, 2018
Coding club is a student led club that focuses on teaching coding and computer language to anyone, regardless of experience. This group offers the ability to learn about computer languages such as Python and Java programming. “It is my goal to teach as many students as I can to code.” club sponser Kayla Britton said. “If they want to learn, I want to be able to provide that for them.”
This club participates in competitions through the Technology Student Association (TSA) throughout the year while hosting literacy camps and workshops for community members. “We are hoping to lead and participate in the Hour of Code event in December.” Britton said.
According to Britton, coding is a very necessary skill that everyone in this country will need in the future. Students with coding experience who want to educate their fellow classmates are currently running coding club. “Being able to code opens up so many doors for you. You can code machines in hospitals, a self driving car, an app that helps millions of people…” Britton said.
As Britton states, while technology is running our world, it can also impact the lives of millions of people. This club was created to educate students on programming and technology while actively helping and teaching our community. “I wanted to create an outlet for my current programming students to be able to compete in competitions, further their knowledge on programming, and to help out our community by using technology,” Britton said.
