The Year For State

CHS athletes have won multiple state titles in the past, so this year, no less was expected.

Cheer placed 1st in their state competition bringing home their first title.

“Going into the State Competition, they were confident, but they knew they still had to put in the work to be able to win. We competed against some very talented teams. We were successful because this team never settled. They always strived to be better,” cheer coach Kristen Sumler said.

The girls Bowling team also won 1st for the 7th time in a row. This was the 10th State title that the girls team have won.

“It was great honestly, it just showed how hard I worked,” sophomore Bowler Graci Hock said.

Congratulations are also in order for the Wrestling team. The team placed state runner up.

“We put blood, sweat, and tears into this sport and proved ourselves at state, we worked hard to get a trophy and we did just that, we got runner-up at state for the first time ever,” senior Wrestler Dustin Calhoun said.

The boys Bowling team finished up their season placing 3rd in the state.

The Boys had a good year. We went undefeated in the regular season, won both Bakers Tournaments, and won a 6A Central Conference title. We were really firing on all cylinders before the two week snow delay of the state tournament. We finished third in the state tournament and are looking forward to a bright future for next year,”  Bowling coach Nathan Brown said.

The Swim team advanced to 5th in the state.

“We trained hard in and out of the water, and it showed whenever we swam at meets,” senior Jessica Bongfeldt from the swim team said.

Again, a huge congratulations to the teams that have worked hard for this year’s accomplishments.
