Cabot High School has a variety of business classes to take as electives during your time in high school. Criminal Justice covers everything from arrests to blood analysis.
Lisa Toms, the teacher for Criminal Justice had recently brought in a guest speaker from the state Crime Lab. Lillian Howerton, a Forensic Serologist from the Arkansas State Crime Labs came in at Toms’ request to talk about what it is a Serologist does and how they operate. According to Toms, having a guest speaker in the classroom is important because it gives the students insider information on a job they might want in the future.
“It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge from their industries, giving students a look at real-world applications of what they’re learning in class,” Toms said. “Also, they can share current trends, challenges, and solutions that students may not get from a textbook.”
