Principals often do duties such as discipline, organization, student management, and community relations. These are just a few of the many duties that principals carry out. Cabot High School is no different.
The Principal of Cabot High School is Michael Falcinelli. Falcinelli has a stringent schedule full of possible challenges and busyness. For Falcinelli, his days start early and end late.
“I get up really early each morning and exercise,” Falcinelli said. “Then, I get to school around 6:15.”
Most people enjoy walking around the school, seeing all of the landmarks. Principal Fallcineli likes to stay mobile around the school at all times of the day.
“I try to move around all over campus throughout the day,” Falcinelli said.
Being a Principal is generally considered a challenging profession. Often, it takes certain personality traits to be a successful principal. For Falcinelli, these traits ran his life.
“Being able to stay keel at all times; providing stable and consistent leadership,” Falcinelli said. “Most of all, being a servant leader is important,” Falcinelli said.
Most principals enjoy spending time with their students throughout the school day. Falcinelli goes above and beyond in helping students at all times of the day.
“I like being around students during lunch time and before school,” Falcinelli said.
Principals often play a large role in the growth and development of students while in high school. Facinelli often modeled for students in character, discipline, and academic success.
“I like being able to watch our students grow and mature every day,” Falcinelli said. “I also really enjoy watching our staff interact with and teach our students.”
Principals not only affect the growth of students, but they also significantly impact their character and academic development. Falcinelli works with students to ensure they achieve the greatest success during their time at Cabot High School.
“I love working with and being around students,” Falcinelli said.
Principals spend long or lengthy stints in their positions. Falcinelli has spent multiple years at Cabot High School.
“This will be my second year as principal at Cabot High School,” Falcinelli said.
Most of the time, there are many different types of people and personalities concentrated into one place in high school; therefore, being a principal requires people skills. Falcinelli regularly employed these skills to help benefit the student body.
“You have to be very patient and respectful of everyone’s personality,” Falcinelli said.
In addition to people skills, principals have to get to know each student individually. For principals, getting to know every student can prove to be difficult, but Falcinelli makes sure this takes precedence.
“Everyone is different, and you must try to get to know them on a more personal level,” Falcinelli said.
Another challenge that was faced by principals is that every day is a new challenge. Falcinelli strived every day to tackle these challenges.
“No day is the same and presents different challenges,” Falcinelli said.
Most principals had reasons why they loved their job or chose it. Falcinelli revealed why he loved being the principal of Cabot High School.
“I love working and being around kids,” Falcinelli said.
Principals on a daily basis have very busy and challenging schedules to grapple with. Falcinelli regularly faced this challenge of finding time.
“The most challenging part of the day is finding enough time to meet the needs of everyone,” Falcinelli said.
People who are in positions of authority often check up on their peers’ progress to help them reach the goals they have. Falcinelli enjoyed checking up and observing the staff and teachers’ progress.
“My duties each day include going into classrooms and observing,” Falcinelli said.
Another essential part of being a principal is having good communication and social skills. Regularly, Falcinelli employed these skills in his daily routine to help students and faculty.
“I really love to be around people,” Falcinelli said.
Principals often work hard for the betterment of their school’s campus and activities, and often like to show them off. Falcinelli was no different; often, Falcinelli enjoyed showing off the best of Cabot High School.
“It’s really exciting to show people what our school has to offer,” Falcinelli said.
Oftentimes, principals hold teaching positions before promoting to an administration position. Falcinelli held multiple positions as a teacher that gave him meaningful experience before becoming principal.
“I was a Special Education Teacher and football coach,” Falcinelli said.
Teachers have reasons that motivate them to pursue higher education and become teachers. Falcinelli was motivated by family ties to pursue teaching as a career.
“It was something both my parents did, and I got to see how much joy it brought them,” Falcinelli said.
Individuals enjoy helping others in times of need; this especially applies to principals often have to assist students in times of need. Falcinelli enjoyed helping students in need regularly.
“I love being able to help students in times of need,” Falcinelli.
