Keeping it Gnarly

Born to be champions, the Cabot Varsity Forensics team is regarded as one of the best in the state, and for good reasons. Tournament after tournament the team brought home first place almost everytime. Champions are born on the Team, all thanks to Jennifer Akers, the Forensics Team Coach. (need interview from Akers quote here)

Though they are champions, a pride and joy of the Forensics team are their Words of Music and RT’s (readers theater). These group events are typically the highlights of each tournament, and this year is no different. “I’m really excited for this Words of Music,” Junior Adian Barber states. “We’ve put a lot of work in this thing. We had many rehearsals just polishing it.” The Cabot Forensics team practices hard for these tournaments, and at the most recent tournament won 1st place with their RT and 2nd with there Words of Music.

Many of the students look forward to these tournaments, but it’s not as easy as many think. “Its hard a lot of the time,” Senior Tyler Marston explains. “You have to wake up really early, go on long bus rides, and sometimes you don’t even break, but it’s really rewarding.” Forensics is more than just going out to different schools and acting, it’s about practice, patience, and bringing home the gold.
