Artificial intelligence in schools was a controversial topic within the American education system. Students were often divided on the subject of whether A.I. belongs in school.
Junior Liam Kenyon felt that it was a threat to academic credibility.
¨It’s super bad and deplorable; it is academically dishonest and morally wrong,¨ Kenyon said.
Other students said that A.I. could be beneficial in classrooms. Senior Sheldon Halstead believed that it is an asset not to be overused on schoolwork.
¨A.I. is a resource, but it is cheating if someone overuses it,” Halstead said. “I have used it for homework but I did not learn when I used it.”
Others have mixed opinions on the use of A.I. Junior Asia Derden believed that A.I. was necessary for the growth of a student, but it should not be the prioritized method of teaching.
¨I am personally all for it, but if it’s your first resource, you lack self-control,¨ Derden said.
On the flip side, some students embrace AI with open arms as a resource in schools. Sophomore Abby Pegram used AI to help her understand certain subjects and concepts that she could not grasp.
¨Yes, I use AI, it’s a pretty good resource, and it helps you understand coursework better,¨ Pegram said.
Oftentimes, students use AI to help them understand their schoolwork. Madison Harris is one of those students.
¨ Yes, I think AI should be used in schools because it can help you learn,¨ Harris said.
