In the state of Arkansas, students were required to have seventy-five community service hours to graduate. Cabot was a great city with many volunteering opportunities. Many individuals participated in animal shelters, nursing homes, churches, and more.
Some students were already in their senior year and had very few hours. In order to get those hours, the students had to participate in some kind of event to get volunteer hours.
Everyone loved animals. Sophomore Emma Waldorf volunteered at Cabot Animal Shelter.
“I personally enjoy helping any organization that needs a helping hand,” Waldorf said. “It makes me feel like I accomplished my goal of being a kind person because I get to look back and see the impact I have made by helping others.”
Band events were popular at the time that sophomore Skylar Toney invested in volunteering.
“One of my favorite things is band, so I decided to help out at band events,” Toney said. “I was very joyful during the event because all my friends were helping the event stay entertaining as well.”
The environment needed all the help it could get, so sophomore Lillian Baker and the Ecology Club cleaned up the outside areas.
“I enjoy cleaning the environment because my boyfriend is fond of keeping the world clean, so it makes me excited to help,” Baker said. “It satisfies me to have a healthy environment to live in.”
