The Cabot Panthers were excited to face off against the North Little Rock Wildcats on their home turf. The game was senior night, and hundreds of students showed up to show support for the seniors’ last game before the playoffs.
The Panthers won the battle in the end, with a score of 41-24.
The Panthers were able to get on the board first by kicking a field goal. The score was updated to 3-0.
Panther Maddox McCrory threw the ball 66 yards to Panther Bentley Harrell, who ended up running the ball into the endzone for the first touchdown of the night. The extra point was good, and the score was changed to 10-0.
The Wildcats were able to fake out the Panthers, running the ball into the endzone without most of the players knowing. With the extra point being good, the score was 10-7 with the Panthers still in the lead.
Panther Cooper Powell started the second quarter by strolling into the endzone. Panther Dean Heyer kicked a good field goal, so the score was updated to 17-7
With the Wildcats having the ball on the 9-yard line, they decided to kick a field goal to up their score from 7 to 10.
McCory was able to meet up with Panther Aeneas Arnold, who strided the ball into the endzone for a touchdown. The score was changed to 24-10.
The Panthers kicked a field goal that sailed just over the crossbar, moving their score to 27.
With just 3 minutes left in the third quarter, the Panthers were able to score a touchdown and an extra point to change the score to 34-10.
The fourth quarter started with the Wildcats lighting up the scoreboard by scoring a touchdown and an extra point. With both being good, the score was 34-17.
The Wildcats were able to recover a dropped ball on the turf, giving them the ball in their possession. They then ran the ball into the endzone, giving them yet another touchdown. With the extra point being good, the score was updated to 34-24.
Powell was able to come back, however, with a touchdown for the Panthers. A good extra point was kicked, and the score was 41-24.
The Panthers were able to hold their lead until the end, with an end score of 41-24. Next week, the Panthers will be hosting the playoffs. The Panthers ended 3rd in the conference.
