With winter break officially being over, spring sports have now hit the ground running. For spring sports, the early months of the new year were when they perfected their skills, time management, and chemistry together for the upcoming season.
For Cabot Softball, this heavy-based schedule isn’t new to them. They’ve been working hard since the beginning of the school year, working out and practicing almost every single day of the week.
Right when school started to be back in session, the team was already back in the weightroom bright and early in the morning. Assistant coach Grace Neal knew just how important weight training was for the team, and used this to better their strength on and off the field.
“Strength training is important for every single athlete, no matter the sport,” Neal said. “It gives endurance for the team on and off the field, and that’s super important come season.”
It’s not just coaches who saw a change in the atmosphere on the diamond. Senior Allee Autry could notice a shift in attitudes on the field and in the weight room.
“During our defensive practices, we all communicate with each other and cheer each other on,” Autry said. “I’m super excited for my senior season, and I have a feeling we are going to be really good this year.”
With both coaches and players seeing a shift for the greater good, it’s clear that this team is ready to take the field for their first public game in late February. Fans are excited to see the work and talent that will be shown in the coming months.
