Music Wednesdays

Music+Wednesdays

Most students have probably noticed the music playing during both lunches on Wednesdays. Students request songs that are played. “The students really enjoy it, they have reacted really positively,” Music Appreciation and Theory teacher Logan Smith said.

Anyone can request their own song by filling out the green forms that Mr. Smith will be handing out at his music stand on Wednesdays. It costs one dollar to get your song played, and an additional dollar if you want a special message to be said before the song is played. “We can use it as kind of a fundraiser, have students request songs and make some money for the student council and have a good time,” Smith said.

Any genre of music will be accepted and played, as long as the content and lyrics are appropriate. If there is rain or it’s a special day, such as the day the PSAT was taken, the ‘Music Wednesday’ will be pushed back a day, but will still happen. According to Smith, this tradition will continue for the foreseeable future.  “You can pick classical music, you can pick jazz,” said Smith.
