With food, music, and prizes, the dance is sure to be a ball. Saturday, January 12, students will dance the night away at the winter semi-formal.  The dance was meant to be on December 8, but due to weather and road conditions it has been moved to another date.

“Over 150 tickets have been sold so far,” Tasha Rowe says. We are excited to have more students being able to participate.” Some students were quite disappointed that there was no Homecoming Dance.  Normally the Student Council sponsors a Homecoming Dance, but this year we had the student body vote for the types of dance to be held this year. The ending vote was a winter semi formal. “Semi-formal dances are my favorite. It’s right in the middle of formal and casual,” junior Levi Avdem says. “The dances are amazing, well prepared, and the music is on point.”

“I enjoy going to dances,” Avdem says. “I get to spend it with people I usually don’t get to, and it’s a good pass time.” Tickets are normally 15 dollars, but if you bring five canned food items the price is knocked down to 10 dollars per ticket. “We have collected over 200 cans that will be given to local food pantries,” Rowe says. “The holiday season is a great time to given back to our community.  The dance gave us an opportunity to help out the community and involve our students in giving to others in need.”

For the first dance of the year and the first ever winter formal at CHS Student Council wanted to make this great. “The Student Council has worked hard to have beautiful decorations, a great selfie photo area, awesome food, prizes and of course, great music for dancing,” Rowe states. “The group tried to create a true winter wonderland for all who come to the dance.”
